We all love it. It’s a staple for the growing bunch of veggie lovers- and for good reason! Who knew so few ingredients could make such a tasty snack, and so quickly? Actually, I think most people know this. I think I was unusually slow on the uptake that homemade hummus is possible. It seemed like a lot of work and I never quite had the drive, but in an effort to clean out the pantry for yet another move across the state (home for a bit of summer in vb) I was hoping to use up some chickpeas. Mission accomplished. That said, most of you probably are way ahead of the game and if you haven’t made hummus you probably at least know how to make it, just mash up some garbanzos… right?
SO. This recipe isn’t so much creative wonderful new flavors used in innovative ways. Oops. Whatever.
You know what it is? It is a post to highlight just how incredibly easy it is and nudge those like me in the homemade direction. It’s for those few that somehow missed the memo on how crazy easy hummus is and how worth it it is to break out the magic bullet for an afternoon. This is just a basic recipe, there are tons of fun varieties. But you know that already.
- 1 can garbanzo beans
- 1/2 lemon
- 1/2 lime
- 3 tsp garlic powder (highly recommend roasted garlic if you’re more skilled in this department)
- 2 tsp salt
- 1 tbsp olive oil
